product review: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

I bought this during Walgreen's BOGO sale along with the curl and style milk. I was running low on the Bee Mine luscious balanced moisturizer and needed a replacement so I decided to try these out after reading a review on BBB. At first, I did not like it AT.ALL. I was comparing it to the Bee Mine too much because it was the only product I used. Also, the smell was too overpowering for me at first but then I've gotten use to it. When I first used the product, I think I was being heavy handed because it would leave a white residue and feel dried out after awhile. After using it for awhile I learned to apply the right amount. I will say that it did its job and I like it for back up if I don't have Bee Mine. I will def be purchasing these products again. For $9.99 its a good deal to me! When using this product I use it with the Bee Mine Curly Hold Butter or Ecostyler gel. I realized I may not be using a lot of my products correctly. I pretty much use what I have for braiding. Id love to get feedback, If you have this product how do you use it?

Thanks for commenting! I don't really do twists because I'm so bad at them and can never get them to stay. I have realized using on damp hair works better and no white residue (:

Love Shea Moisture Products. I do think that it best it used on dry hair as a moisturizer(THE Style Milk) and get for wet hair twist ans twist outs (the smoothie). I think Shea Moisture is definitely a few of the products that I use that I WILL buy over and over again!!!

@tracey thanks for commenting. I don't use the curl and style milk too much. I use it for down and out hair sometimes.

@nikki same here. I mostly use all the products I have for braiding..nothing else! I don't think they will be having another BOGO sale. I was on their FB page a few months back and someone asked the same question. They said it cost the company a lot of money to do the sale and they did it to promote their product and welcome it to Walgreens. It was a good deal though!

I thought I hated this product (on GDL's hair) even though I really like it on my boy's hair. P.S. I do love the curl and Style milk for GDL. But recently I applied it to her (wet) hair one night, braiding it in two chunky braids for sleep. Woke up to the prettiest braidout ever. It was way better on wet hair than dry! I still don't like it on her dry hair, and I think I was being too heavy-handed too (white residue). but I def think I have found a purpose for it...

Thanks for commenting Tav..I use the curl enhancing smoothie a lot..almost done with it! But not so much the milk..I think its all about experimenting and figuring out what works best. Sounds like I need to try braid outs more often!

I wish they bring back the bogo sale, I just picked up some curl and style milk. I love bee mine more, but this is cheaper and more convenient to get.

I like it. I first got it before I chopped my hair again, and it helped me define curls on dry hair when I didn't have time to rewash. Lately I've been using it on my baby A's hair and it keeps her very dry hair moisturized
