protective mohawk style

You already know how I looooooove mohawks. I really enjoyed this style. I was able to switch it up in many different ways. See below!!
here is the infamous braided braids (:
sectioned off "banded" style.

something different I tried out. I flat twisted the whole thing and then pulled it up to form the "U" shape. I think it came out somewhat cute!

Hope you all enjoyed the style! Until next time...(hopefully, it wont be too long)

mohawk with flat twists and cornrows pulled into a side ponytail

For this style I wanted to do a mohawk with each row alternating between cornrow and flat twist, cornrow and flat twist. Half way with one side I got lazy and just decided to pull the rest into a ponytail to the side. I secured atleast three rows together with rubberbands that were dipped in olive oil and then pulled it together in a ponytail.
For this style we used Jaja's hair and body pomade by Created By Nature we won a few weeks ago from a giveaway by Untrained Hairmom. Review coming soon on the product, until then check out Untrained Hairmom's!

kid's braided hairstyle part II

I wanted to update on the current style we have in now. If you missed the first post check out kid's braided hairstyle

As you can see in the previous post all I did to the style was braid it all together and either secure it at the back or leave it to hang on the side like a ponytail.

To switch up the style a bit I left her hair braided together in the left side. Once I got to the right side I gathered hair and braided it together like this to get this look
I then added beads. These are glow in the dark beads and our first time using them. They don't glow too much at night unless you "charge" them by putting them close to light beforehand.

kid's braided hairstyle

Im not sure what to call this style. It can be similiar to a braided headband (if its braided closer to the front) or even a horizontal mohawk. its very similiar.
After its all braided up you can either wrap it around in the back and secure with a bobbypin or let it hang like a side pony (:

half braided mohawk to the side and twisted

she did not wear the style like this. I just moved the bottom braids to the back to show what was done. It looks funky like this but the bottom braids were pulled to the side thats why it was parted diagonally.

Let me start off by apologizing for the lack of posts lately. I know I've been slacking. Also excuse the weak post titles. Im obviously not good at naming styles.

I did this style about a week and a half ago and really enjoyed the outcome of it. If you do not know already, I LOVE mohawks. It is def our go-to style when I draw a blank on what to do. I have always wanted to do a mohawk that fell to the side. Here is what we came up with. On clean, detangled hair these are the steps I took to achieve this look.

Products used: shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, eco styler gel, widetooth comb, pintail comb (for parting), rubberbands dipped in olive oil (for beads and causes less breakage when removing).
1.) I parted the hair in half from ear to ear and tied the bottom half off.
2.) I parted a section in the front to braid two cornrows as bangs and lay on the left side (opposite of the way I wanted the mohawk to lay).
3.) I then made a part on the right side of the top portion of the hair so that the mohawk would be right sided instead of straight down the middle.
4.) I had about a total of seven braids per side when I was done. The braids were pretty skinny and since I was going to be adding beads I did not want to weigh each strand down with it so I decided to grab braids across from eachother and twist them together. I did the same with the bangs. This made the strands thicker and I felt better about adding beads to it.
5.) For the remaining bottom section I made six braids diagonally. I did the same to these as well by twisting two braids together.

Mohawk and twists on natural hair for kids

For this month's hair carnival, we were paired up with a partner and both recreated a style from one another. My partner was the wonderful Charlotte over at Charlottes Avenue. This girl has flat twists DOWN! This is the style I chose to recreate. It is a mohawk with twists.
To see our original post on this style with more pictures and info you can view it at Snagged Style: Charlotte's Avenue

I couldn't choose just one style to recreate because there are so many talented mommy's out there. Another style I chose to do was from Mainly Braids.
To see our original post on this style with more pictures at Snagged Style: Mainly Braids
Here is another style I recreated Snagged Style: Keyative Styles. Fan Feature from someone else that is similar to the style from Mainly Braids. To see the GORGEOUS braid out from this style view our post onThe first best braid out we have had

If you enjoyed these looks you can also view more of our mohawk styles and variations by viewing these posts:natural mohawk switched up, 4-in-1 mohawk style variations

I hope you enjoyed this post for this month's carnival as much as we did! (:

snagged style: Charlottes Avenue

So I did another snagged style. I can't help it, there's so many talented mamas out there! This one comes from CharlottesAvenue and her adorable daughter Choca. Its a mohawk with mini twists in the front.
For our version I parted out a section in front to do later. I did her hair like I normally would any mohawk by braiding each section straight back. When I was done braiding I secured it with a rubberband. I then finished it off by doing 3-strand twists (our first time and I love it!). The top portion I did different. I only did 2 3-strand twists..I'm not good with twists and got lazy by the time I got to this section.
I left it pretty plain and didn't really add barettes or beads on the end. Next time I will. I pretty much only did barettes so the twists would stay in. The twists lasted pretty long and I will be doing this style sometime soon again.
I eventually took out the 3-strand twists in the front for a (horrible) braid out. It looked pretty similiar to Choca's. Kind of....lol

natural mohawk switched up

Here's a style I did. It leans to the side a lil with random parts and not directly in the middle. I switched it up once but there are numerous way this style can be worn.
here is the original style

here it is braided in one big braid
another, with the braid undone to give it that crinkly look with a flower to accessorize.

4-in-1-style

I didn't update on Leelee's new hair style too fast because right when I was done I had a ton of style variations in mind and wanted to make it all one post. Again, when I styled everything was random. I had no style in mind and just braided as I went. I will try and make this as much as a tutorial as I can since its what my blog is lacking. I'm really bad at describing things so please bare with me (:

I started on banded hair. see post here I sectioned her hair into four parts by dividing her hair vertically and then ear to ear. I started braiding the bottom left corner with four braids and the same thing with the botton right section. I wanted to switch the style up a bit so in the two top sections I decided to add criss-cross braids. On each section I started with one braid, a criss-cross braid and then two more braids. So, in total on each top section, there were three regular braids and one cornrow braid in this pattern: regular braid, criss-cross braid, regular braid, regular braid. I hope I'm making sense lol ...onto the styles:

On the first night I was done (Saturday night) I decided to put her hair into a bun and leave it like that for the next day.

On Monday I took the bun down and braided all the loose ends together like this.

Tuesday I put it back into a bun and added a cute lil flower clip to dress her hair up.

Wednesday I unbraided the two very front braids and two back braids along with all the loose ends to create a mohawk look. I added a little poof in the front. For the loose hair I applied kinky curly curling custard because it curls her hair beautifully. I then secured random parts with bobby pins so it wouldn't fall apart.

I really wish I had better pics of the mohawk because it was sooo cute but she wouldn't cooperate with me at all. She's tired of me taking pics of her hair lol. I actually created 6 styles with this hairstyle but I didnt take pics of them. After I let her wear her hair in a mohawk the next day I gathered all the loose hair and smoothed the front and back and tied it into a bun. It was a cute lil puff ball on her head with the curls. Lastly, I undid all the braids for a braid out.

I hope you enjoyed this 4-in-1 style as much as we did. My favorite was the mohawk. She wore it like that for her cousin's birthday party and received lots of compliments. This goes to show that you can do really cute protective styles and always switch it up. Its ok to leave styles in even when there is frizz. Its fun to see what other style variations you can come up with. Be creative!

30 day challenge, day 6 - views on mainstream music
I HATE mainstream music ..well majority of them. I don't listen to the radio or watch music videos so I'm pretty late on whats new and what's "in". I use to always know music that came out before they got played but lately all the music I've heard I couldn't stand. Now, I'm not saying the type I listen to is better in any way shape or form because it definitely isn't. I think a lot of people would not even guess the type of music I like. I liked mainstream music back when it was AJ and Free on 106th and park, when they had tigger on rap city the basement, CMC with Chuy Gomez, Carson on TRL and when skinny jeans wasn't a thing for guys to wear. Get my drift?
